Gulmarg turns white

Gulmarg in Baramulla district recorded a temperature of minus 2.2 degrees Celsius, while Qazigund experienced a low of minus 2 degrees Celsius, down from minus 1.6 degrees Celsius the previous night. The snow-laden mountains, trees, and naked branches adorned with snow attracted spectators from different parts of the country.

Below freezing point



​The temperature in Kashmir dropped below freezing point as the cold weather intensified in the valley, officials reported on Wednesday. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, experienced a low of minus 2 degrees Celsius, compared to minus 1.4 degrees Celsius the previous night.

​Pahalgam coldest ​

​Pahalgam in south Kashmir's Anantnag district, which serves as a base camp for the annual Amarnath yatra, recorded a temperature of minus 5.1 degrees Celsius. It was the coldest area in the Valley on Tuesday night.

Kokernag town in south Kashmir registered a minimum temperature of minus 0.5 degrees Celsius, while Kupwara recorded a low of minus 2.7 degrees Celsius.

Wonderland for tourists

Tourists walk on the snow-covered area at Karnah in Kupwara district on Monday. According to the meteorological office, the weather will be partly to generally cloudy, but mainly dry until December 10. The night temperature is expected to drop by a few degrees.
