Over 7,500 pilgrims visit Amarnath cave shrine, total crosses 4.5 lakh

Srinagar: The number of pilgrims who paid obeisance to Lord Shiva at Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir crossed the 4.5 lakh mark on Saturday as more than 7,500 yatris had darshan of the naturally formed ice lingam, officials said here. Devotees thronged various Lord Shiva temples on the first Monday of Shrawan month, offering prayers and experiencing moments of devotion. Despite long queues and hardships, devotees sought blessings for personal and familial wellbeing. Offerings included falahari bhandara and sumptuous prasad at different temples. Many expressed gratitude for blessings received and wished for prosperity and health.

Car grazes kanwar pilgrim on Gzb road, vandalised and overturned

In Muradnagar, a Honda City grazed a kanwar pilgrim, leading to vandalism. The driver, Navbhat Chaudhary, was detained for illegally entering a restricted road. A video showed pilgrims smashing the car's windshield and eventually overturning it. The incident follows similar vandalism episodes in Muzaffarnagar. Police are reviewing CCTV footage for further action against the pilgrims.
