SHIMLA: In a late-night operation, the Indian Air Force evacuated a critical patient from Bhuntar in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday.
The patient, who is in the army, was airlifted in an Mi-17 chopper from the Western Air Command headquarters, New Delhi.
According to the information, the entire operation was carried out by the Air Force personnel in complete darkness of the night using night vision goggles.
Last month, the Air Force had lifted four critically ill patients from Bhuntar to Chandigarh as the highway was closed due to landslides and flash floods.
The Air Force had also rushed to help in August when many areas of Kangra district of the state were submerged after flood gates of Pong dam were opened. Over 2000 residents of villages falling under Indora and Fathehpur sub-divisions of the district were rescued by the Airforce and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in an operation that lasted for three days.
