BJP had first decided to hold a press conference at Dhauladhar hotel, which at present is used to

quarantine people

coming from various states on payment basis. But they changed the venue at the last moment to a private hotel. Meeting was held on Thursday.

Congress leaders questioned the move, saying that CM Jairam Thakur had said to make

Himachal

a quarantine destination but their own party leaders feel unsafe at such hotels.

Former minister and senior congress leader Sudhir Sharma said that BJP leaders have violated the norms issued for hotels by the government. “In the directives issued by the government there is no mention that hotels can be used for such purposes. The ruling party has double standards,” he added.

BJP media in-charge, Rakesh Sharma confirmed that the hotel venue was changed just to facilitate the meeting and to follow the safety measures for all.

Kewal Pathania

, another Congress leader and former chairman of Forest Corporation, said that BJP national spokesperson claims that he was in Himachal only from last few months while people have doubts on his statement.

“Many people said that they have seen him addressing meetings at Delhi also. People are sending messages to me on this. Administration should inquire this thing at their end,” he added.

BJP leaders said that Congress is also holding meetings every second day and social distancing norms are flouted by them.
