Congress paves the way for return of expelled workers

SHIMLA

: Ahead of the

Lok Sabha

elections, the

Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee

(

HPCC

) has decided to take back those

expelled workers

who have wished to return to the party unconditionally. However, the fate of leaders who had contested elections in the past against official candidates of the party has not been decided yet.

HPCC president Kuldeep Singh Rathore said the party has decided in principle to take back party workers who had been expelled due to involvement in anti-party activities. However, they will not be given any post in the party for the next two years, he added.

He said return of those party workers who had contested assembly elections against the official party candidate is still pending and will be taken after weighing the pros and cons. “There are many Congress leaders and other people who want to return to the party. The party is taking decision with full consideration and thoughtfulness,” he said.

Earlier in February, a four-member high-level committee had decided to take back 46 rebels, including former MLAs.
