Meanwhile, nearly 80.86% of Meghalaya voters exercised their franchise during the by-elections to the three Assembly constituencies of Mawphlang, Mawryngkneng and Rajabala on Saturday, as per the latest election commision reports.

The counting of votes will held on November 2 and the results will be declared on the same day.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), FR Kharkongor said Mawphlang constituency saw 76.90%, Mawryngkneng 75.06% and Rajabala witnessed 90.63% of voters' turnout. The final percentage of voters' turnout is expected to rise, Kharkongor added.

In Mizoram, Lalthlangliana told TOI that none of the 663 Bru voters, already settled in Tripura, has cast vote in the bypoll.

However, a number of voters, who have tested positive for Covid, cast their votes after 5 pm, the DC said, adding that polling was held smoothly without any hiccups.

A total number of 14,561 out of 17,911 exercised their franchise, of which 7,152 were male voters and 7,409 female. Of the 487 voters at Lungmuat polling station, 90.96% cast their votes, making the polling station the highest percentage of voters within the constituency.
