Frozen library of ancient ice tells tales of climate's past

The Ice Core Archive in Copenhagen holds blocks of ice with atmospheric tales from thousands of years ago, providing insight into prehistoric climate change. The archive contains 25 kilometers of ice primarily from Greenland, offering a record of the last 10,000 years of climate change and human activities. The ice samples, made up of compressed snow, trap air bubbles that are the same age as the ice itself. The repository's antechamber allows scientists to examine the ice, which is kept at a temperature of -18 degrees Celsius. The ice cores are crucial for understanding greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide, methane, and the impact of burning fossil fuels. The Ice Memory foundation is also collecting ice cores from around the world to preserve them for future researchers.

PUs AC Joshi librarys 3rd floor to now be open for 24 hours after stir

Panjab University students preparing for semester examinations face challenges due to space constraints and restricted timings at AC Joshi Library. The library's third floor, which closed at 9pm, forced students to sit outside. However, after a protest by PUCSC president Jatinder Singh, the authorities agreed to keep the third floor open 24 hours. They are also creating a new space to accommodate 150 additional students. Despite these developments, the library still faces challenges like staff and resource crunch, but efforts are underway to address them.
