Immersion ghat in Shillongto be lit up with diyas today

Shillong: Temples across Meghalaya will be illuminated on Monday to mark the consecration ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.“We have already lit up our temple and are expecting a good number of people to congregate during the lighting of diyas (earthen lamps) here tomorrow evening,” said a member of a temple managing committee in the state capital on Sunday. A procession was taken out in the city on the eve of the much-awaited event.The Central Puja Committee (CPC) of Meghalaya has made special arrangements for the Ram Mandir inauguration. It has decided to celebrate the consecration ceremony by lighting earthen lamps and candles between 4pm and 6 pm at the Polo immersion ghat in Shillong.The CPC has urged the managements of all puja and mandir committees, Hindu institutions and Hindu believers of Meghalaya to observe the auspicious occasion by organising various programmes, especially at the time of ‘pran prathista of Sri Ram’.

Ayodhya Ram Mandir consecration rituals begin at temple

The run-up to the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony in Ayodhya began with a series of rituals. Sculptor Arun Yogiraj and prominent saints and seers participated in the prayashchit and karmakuti poojan to seek forgiveness for any mistakes made during the carving of the idol. The rituals are dedicated to establishing the sacred place for yagyas and pleasing Lord Vishnu.

The consecration ceremony of Lord Ram will be live-streamed on Doordarshan on January 22. The Ram temple trust has requested virtual participation. Varanasi priest Lakshmi Kant Dixit will officiate the main rituals. The temple complex will open to the public on January 23.
