Four pilgrimage sites sanctioned under ‘PRASAD’

Shillong: Four projects under PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme for Meghalaya were unveiled at the 11th International Tourism Mart - development of pilgrim amenities at Nongsawlia Presbyterian Church, Nartiang Shakti Peeth, Aitnar Pool and Charantala Kali Temple today.The 11th International Tourism Mart was inaugurated on November 21 here by UnionMinister of State for Tourism, Shripad Yesso Naik in the presence of CM Conrad K Sangma, who expressed his happiness that Shillong is hosting the International Tourism Mart for the second time.He said the Government of India, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, has continued to ensure that the North East is growing with the rest of the country by unleashing its potential across sectors, promising a greater future of economic prosperity for the region.“The International Tourism Mart has been helping in channeling the tourism potential of the northeast,” he said.

Approve shacks based on old site plan: CM to tourism dept

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has directed authorities to allow traditional shack operators to erect their shacks based on the demarcation and site plan prepared in 2019. The start of the shack operations this season has been delayed by over two months, causing a loss of business for the operators and revenue for the state. Sawant has instructed the tourism department to quickly grant approvals and resolve concerns. The delay in setting up the shacks has also affected the placement of beach beds and tables preferred by foreign tourists.

In Tashkent, Goa presents its medical tourism credentials

Goa Tourism participated in the Tashkent International Tourism Fair in Uzbekistan to promote the state as a medical tourism destination for central Asian countries. The delegation engaged with Uzbek travel agents to promote charter flights to Goa, and there was a keen interest from charter operators in Uzbekistan. The Indian Embassy in Uzbekistan provided space for Goa Tourism at the fair, and the ambassador of India to Uzbekistan emphasized the need to promote Goa as a medical tourism hub. Goa Tourism is looking to attract more tourists from Uzbekistan and neighboring central Asian nations.

Election Commission suspends Telangana tourism MD for code breach

The Election Commission of India has suspended the Managing Director of the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC), Boinpally Manohar Rao, and sacked the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the MD, Y Satyanarayana. This action was taken after the senior officials accompanied a cabinet minister during his visit to Tirumala last month, which was deemed a violation of the model code of conduct. The ECI has also requested an explanation from the tourism department principal secretary and directed departmental proceedings against the MD and OSD.
