SHILLONG: Chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday rolled out the YESS Meghalaya, Youth Engagement through Empowered Youth Organisations programme in Garo hills, with an aim to create an impactful youth development support system.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said there are over 3,000 registered youth clubs and organisations across the state which are working in different sectors and also in the government and that through YESS Meghalaya, they will be provided financial support. On the occasion, 61 organisations from the five districts of Garo hills were given Rs 69.9 lakh.

Officials said Yess Meghalaya will provide financial assistance up to Rs 1 lakh to registered youth clubs and organisations across the state to carry out developmental activities .

An official statement on Friday said the registration to the Yess portal are open and financial assistance will be released based on scrutiny of applications received on the portal. Conrad also handed over cheques to medal winners of Meghalaya Games 2022, which was held in Shillong recently.
