Conrad flags off largest procurement of police equipment

Shillong: One of the largest procurements of equipment for the state police, comprising 80 new Bolero vehicles, 140 motorcycles, six cranes, laptops, speed guns and other essentials were flagged off by CM Conrad K Sangma on Friday from the Meghalaya Police HQ here, reports Manosh Das.“Law and order is necessary for any society to function smoothly whether it is in terms of crime, traffic, security and its many other aspects and it’s the responsibility of any government to provide law and order in the state as well as in the country. For this to happen we need to support the police department as it faces many challenges. It is with this hope that through this initiative our police personnel will be equipped so they are better prepared to face any challenge or situations ahead of them,” said Sangma.

Police department implements foot patrolling to curb crimes

Hubballi city police launch Foot Patrolling to prevent fraud and educate citizens on criminal modus operandi. Police personnel visit crowded places to sensitize people on crimes, safety measures, and contacting police. The initiative aims to make police visible, instill confidence, and send messages to anti-social elements. Police officers visit bus stands, railway stations, markets, and residential areas to create awareness about pickpocketing, theft, harassment, and drug use. The foot patrolling has resulted in increased interaction, problem-solving, and citizen cooperation.

2 cyber frauds who conned many across country in police net

Two men were arrested for defrauding people using fake social media accounts. The scammers used SIM cards linked to cyber fraud cases from across the country, cheating people of over Rs 9.42 crore. They were caught after a complaint was lodged at the Cyber Crime Manesar police station. The accused posed as the complainant online to defraud her followers and asked for money. The investigation revealed that the accused were involved in multiple cases of cyber fraud.

Traffic police cracks the whip on illegally rented vehicles

The traffic cell of Goa police has launched a week-long campaign to curb unauthorised rentals of private bikes and cars. The drive was initiated after complaints against unauthorized rental vehicles. Legal action is being taken against offenders. The traffic cell aims to raise awareness and enforce regulations, without disrupting law-abiding tourists. Comprehensive figures on the number of vehicles violating regulations are yet to be compiled.
