11 new forest guards pass basic training

Shillong: The 28th convocation ceremony of Meghalaya Forest Training School (MFTS) was held on Tuesday at Williamnagar in East Garo Hills with 11 trainees passing out as full-fledged guards. The newly recruited guards were felicitated for completing their basic training course.Principal chief conservator of forest H C Chaudhary lauded the forest personnel for their hard work and dedication, adding that the training will go a long way in enabling them to play their roles and carry out responsibilities with greater efficacy. “The forest department is one of the few govt departments which has been assigned developmental and regulatory functions,” he said.“Officials in the forest and environment department need to be equipped with necessary skills to perform multiple responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner,” he stressed.
