Tamil Nadu: Fake NCC man held for girl’s rape
He described the camp as fraudulent and noted that the institution is neither registered nor affiliated with the NCC.
The school had organized the fraudulent NCC camp on its premises from August 5 to 9, which saw the participation of 41 students, including 16 girls.
The female students were accommodated in the school's auditorium during the camp. It was at this four-day ‘camp’ that the NCC officer of the school Sivaraman, 30, from Kaveripattinam, sexually assaulted the Class 8 girl, police said.
Commodore Raghav said, “Associating the fraudulent camp with NCC was a clear case of misinformation and misrepresentation, which could lead to misunderstandings regarding the involvement of NCC personnel.”
Though the Bargur police arrested seven individuals, including the correspondent and principal of the school for attempting to hush up the issue, on Sunday, Sivaraman was elusive. He was however arrested late on Sunday night in Coimbatore.
“He attempted to escape and jumped into a pit, suffering the fracture,” Krishnagiri SP P Thangadurai said.
Krishnagiri collector K M Sarayu announced that special psychological counselling sessions would be conducted for female students who participated in the ‘camp.’
She also promised that an investigation would be launched against the school management for organizing this fraudulent NCC camp. Further investigation is on in the case.
(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
