to protest against the ongoing power crisis in the district and elsewhere in the state. The protesters, who started the march from Patel Market, marched for 4km, raising slogans against the state government. Dhanbad MP P N Singh said, “The government has failed to provide basic amenities like electricity, water, infrastructural facilities like roads and proper healthcare facilities to the people. Due to the lack of electricity and water amid the scorching heat, the common people are suffering and public anger towards the government is increasing every day.”

The state-run discom on Tuesday had said the ongoing power shortages across Jharkhand will not improve unless thermal power plants across the country ramp up their production. “The power production in the thermal power plants which supply power to Jharkhand have been reduced to 50% of their capacities due to the shortages of coal,” JBVNL’s managing director K K Verma told TOI on Tuesday.
