Teenager who saved toddler admitted to Hazaribag hosp

Chatra: Thirteen-year-old Kajal Kumari who jumped into a 40-feet well to save a toddler has been referred to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital in neighbouring Hazaribag district for better treatment. Kajal managed to save three-year-old Shivam Kumar, but injured herself in the process.
Kajal is a student of Class VIII at Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya at Husia village in Mayurhund block. The boy had accidentally fallen into the well while playing near it on Monday. Kajal’s father Suresh Bhuiyan is a daily wage labourer. He said she suffered injuries on her face, head and other parts of the body while jumping into the well.
Manjhgawan mukhiya Manjeet Kumar Singh visited the girl at her house on Tuesday evening and extended financial reward. He also took her to primary health centre in Mayurhund where Dr Awnish Tarwey attended to her. Tarwey said Kajal needed better treatment for her injuries and so referred her to the hospital in Hazaribag.
“I will take up her matter with officials,” Singh said, adding that the family will not have any financial problem in treating her.
Chatra deputy commissioner, Abu Imran also said that he would recommend her name for bravery award.
