Ranchi: College students from across the state on Friday took part in essay, elocution and painting competitions as part of the six-day Yuva Saptah that marks the 160th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The event was organised by the state sports department.
The competitions were held at Doranda College, Marwari College and JN College Dhurwa in the city, at Bharathi College in Mandar and BS College in Lohardaga under the aegis of the Ranchi University (RU).
An RU official, Smriti Singh, said, “The competitions are based on the life and thoughts of Swami Vivekananda. The students will learn much more about the leader while preparing for the competitions.” The top three contestants from each college will take part in the university-level competitions on January 8 and 9, while the inter-university contests are scheduled on January 10 and 11.
