RU urged to revise process for teacher recruitment

Ranchi: A National Students Union India (NSUI) delegation met Ranchi University (RU) VC Ajit Kumar Sinha on Saturday, demanding all applicants for need-based teaching positions be called for document verification and interviews.
The university has 299 need-based teaching positions across 25 subjects. According to NSUI state VP Aman Ahmad, RU plans to shortlist only five candidates per position for document verification, with just three proceeding to interviews.
Ahmad said traditionally, all candidates undergo document verification and interviews, citing Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University's similar approach.
But, RU deputy director (vocational) and spokesperson Smriti Singh said the university would not alter its rules despite NSUI's demands.
