DALTONGANJ: The regional deputy director of health services in Palamu region,
John F Kennedy
, has directed
Garhwa
civil surgeon
Dinesh Kumar Singh
to immediately set up
vaccine
session sites in Ramkanda and Godarmana. The directive came after Kennedy learnt that beneficiaries from these two places have to travel 20 kms to get inoculated.
Kennedy said, “During my visit to here, I was surprised to learn that no vaccination facility exist at either Ramkanda community health centre or at Godarmana sub-health centre. As a result, senior citizens and those with comorbidities are being compelled to travel 20 kms to reach their nearest vaccination centres. This is both time-consuming and physically taxing. I have now directed the authorities concerned to immediately start vaccine centres here.” The Godarmana sub-health centre is located near the border with Chhattisgarh.
Kennedy added that at a time when the government was trying to curb the Covid-19 pandemic, it is inhumane to make vulnerable people travel so far.
Kennedy also heaped praise on the jab facility at the Bhandarya community health centre located on the foothills of the Burha Pahar, which is a rebel-hit area.
