Reds kill West S’bhum villager on charges of being police informer

Jamshedpur: Maoists killed a villager branding him as police informer on Wednesday night at the Buru Raika village in West Singhbhum district, SDPO (Jagannathpur) Ikud Dungdung said. A police team has been rushed to the spot to recover the body and probe the case. It wasn’t clear whether he was shot or stabbed, Dungdung added.The deceased was in his 40s and identified as Chudu Sirka. He was a former aide of the Maoists, he further said. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Sirka, a former member of a Maoist squad led by Motilal Soren, was instrumental in getting the latter arrested. Motilal, better known as Sandip da, who was the area commander of the Maoist group, was carrying a reward of Rs 25 lakh on his head. Chudu Sirka was arrested by the West Singhbhum police in Jetia on November 1, 2017. The Maoists suspect Sirka was instrumental in alerting the police about Sandip.Earlier, the rebels had killed a 40-year-old villager in Manoharpur police station area on January 11 on similar charges.
