According to the report, Jharkhand is followed by Maharashtra (77), Bihar (51) and Haryana (40).

Overall Jharkhand registered 1,834 rioting cases which is much less than that of Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Odisha.

Commenting on the issue, BJP's state president Deepak Prakash alleged that the current state government has failed on several fronts related to law and order, including communal violence, crime against women and others. He said that policy of appeasement for mobilising votes is the main reason for disharmony in the society.

JMM general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya, however, blamed the BJP for the situation.

He said, "Ever since the Mahagathbandhan government came to power in 2019, the BJP has been involved in creating social discord. Even though the number of riot cases may be high there has been no casualty. Moreover, the administration has acted quickly to bring the situation under control."
