Dozen injured in Koderma clash, 8 held

Koderma: Officer in-charge of the Domchanch police station, Om Prakash, was among the dozen people who sustained injuries in a violent clash that broke out between two groups at Rupandih village on Wednesday. Eight persons have been arrested, said SDPO Anil Kumar Singh.
A dispute was raging in the village over the installation of a statue of Saint Ravidas and removal of the hoarding of Sri Ram erected in front of the temple of Saint Ravidas .
SDO Riya Singh said, "When a group was erecting the statue of Saint Ravidas on Wednesday, another group opposed it. The confrontation intensified and several people, including OC Prakash, got injured in stone pelting. The police resorted to lathi charge to disperse the crowd."
SDO Singh, SDPO Anil Kumar Singh, DSP Ritbhan Singh rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. Officials tried to hold talks with both the parties till evening to find out an amicable solution but the talks could not take place.
SDPO Anil Kumar Singh said, "The situation is under control."
