Congress dissenters protest against state prez, in-charge

Ranchi: Nearly 100 dissenting Congress workers on Thursday staged a three-hour sit-in outside Bapu Vatika in Morabadi to demand removal of state party president Rajesh Thakur and Jharkhand Congress affairs in-charge Avinash Pande, accusing them of failing to curb lawlessness in the state, leading to factionalism, favouritism, and corruption.
Protester Alok Dubey, who faced suspension for anti-party activities, said, “A few high-headed people in the state party unit, are trying to suppress dissent and have been misleading the party high command. However, as true party workers, we have been speaking and working for the benefit of the party. It’s high time that the high command take cognizance of the lawlessness in the state unit and change party president and state in-charge ahead of the next year’s election if the party wants to do well.”
Another dissenter, Lal Kishorenath Shahdeo, said after Karnataka election, they will head to Delhi to stage similar stir at the central level to save the party in Jharkhand.
