Min takes scooty ride

Union civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu, who was in Ranchi to inaugurate new facilities at Birsa Munda Airport, gave flyers a surprise — not from the skies, but on the streets. He hopped onto a scooty with Ranchi MP and minister of state for defence Sanjay Seth, urging people to save fuel. Many onlookers said that everyone should think about saving fuel.



Kind gesture

Members of the Jharkhand Pradesh Shaundik Sangh distributed bottles of cold water among traffic personnel and rickshaw pullers on city roads amid the heat, with the gesture being widely appreciated by the public.



Cyber frauds trap doctor

A doctor working at Bokaro General Hospital fell victim to cyber fraud after ordering a mobile phone through an online link. The fraudsters allegedly duped him of Rs 33,500 by first delivering a fake handset and later hacking his phone through a fake customer care app. The accused withdrew money from his bank account in two transactions. Police have registered a complaint and launched an investigation.



Foundation day

The Ranchi regional office of Hudco recently celebrated its 56th foundation day. Hudco regional chief Sanjay Kumar highlighted its achievements in infrastructure development and outlined the organisation’s financial support for the development of infrastructure and housing in Jharkhand.



Portal row

Contractors attached to the Bokaro Steel Plant have opposed the management’s proposed ‘Shram Setu’ attendance system. Calling the portal “deeply flawed and impractical”, contractors alleged that the management is enforcing digital rules while ignoring payment dues and operational issues. They warned that forcing the system without resolving grievances could trigger a complete shutdown.



Summer camp

More than 300 children are participating in the summer sports training camp organised by the sports department of Bokaro Steel Plant. Young participants are receiving coaching in cricket, football, basketball, hockey, volleyball and handball from experienced trainers. The camp aims to improve fitness, discipline and team spirit while preparing budding players for higher competitions.



Karate show

Students of DPS Bokaro bagged 40 medals at the 24th All India Tenshinkan Karate Championship 2026 in Goa, helping Jharkhand secure the overall first position. The team clinched 16 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze medals in kata and kumite events. Principal A S Gangwar congratulated the players and coaches for the achievement.
