Chatra’s Itkhori temple plans library on campus

Chatra: Mandir Nyas Samiti of the ancient Ma Bhadrakali temple in Itkhori has taken a decision to start a library on the temple campus which will stock competitive, religious and other useful books. The temple board has also decided to hire a caretaker for the library on honorarium basis.The library will also display books related to the temple’s rich history. “Besides books, newspapers will also be available,” said another member. The 9th century temple which attracts a large number of devotees on a daily basis, is a confluence of three religions including Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. Secretary of the committee, Amit Kumar Singh said, “The temple campus has an earmarked library building which is lying unused. However, it will be made functional soon. Things have been finalised for operation of the library such as monthly fees and other modalities.”“The temple committee has also decided to plant 300 fragrant flowers in the campus ahead of the three-day Itkhori Mahotsav which will kick start from February 19. They will also be engaged with the beautification of the marriage hall and renovation of the existing rooms,” Singh said.
