RANCHI: The Jharkhand BJP will begin a month-long mega public contact campaign later this month, its office bearers said on Monday.
“Under directives from the party’s national leadership, the state unit of the BJP will begin a mega public contact programme from May 30,” BJP’s state spokesperson Pradeep Sinha said.
“The event will disseminate the key achievements of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he completes his ninth year in office. The parliamentarians, legislators and karyakartas will participate,” he added.
Coming in the backdrop of the party’s recent drubbing in the Karnataka assembly elections, the programme is being seen as the beginning of the party’s efforts to ensure victories in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
BJP has 12 MPs in the Lok Sabha and three MPs in the Rajya Sabha. The party has 25 MLAs in the state assembly.
Ousted from power in Jharkhand in 2019, the state unit of the BJP has struggled to win the battle of ballots as it lost all the assembly by-elections in the state since 2020 (except Ramgarh, which was won by its ally, Ajsu-P).
The state unit’s executive committee is expected to meet in Ranchi on Tuesday to chalk out the party’s political course in the months leading to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“As a people’s representative, I have been constantly on the move across the constituency. When it comes to me, I connect with my electorate daily. But during this month, we will increase the intensity of our efforts and reach out to more people in every village and panchayat,” Ranchi’s BJP MP Sanjay Seth said.
