Woman cop killed by jobless husband to usurp property
RAJKOT:
The deceased Kiran Joshi (41), an assistant sub-inspector who was deployed with Junagadh C-Division police station, was transferred to Visavadar police station just two days ago. She had got married just five months ago. Police said Joshi was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband Pankaj Vegda, his elder brother Dipak, his father Bhawanishankar and his mother Rasila.
In his complaint, Joshi’s brother Mahesh alleged that Pankaj and his family members wanted to usurp her house which was in her name. Pankaj, who was jobless, wanted to sell off Joshi’s property to start a business. However, as Joshi objected to this proposal, the seeds of discord were sown between the couple who fought frequently over the issue. The couple soon separated.
“On the fateful night, Pankaj along with the other accused barged into Joshi’s house and picked up a fight with her. They attacked Joshi with knives, stabbing her in stomach, throat and head, killing her on the spot. After committing the crime, they locked the house and fled. The neighbours informed Joshi’s family members who in turn approached the police,” said D K Vaghela, sub-inspector of Junagadh C division police station.
Of the accused, Pankaj’s brother Dipak Vegda also serves as a constable with Junagadh police. Incidentally, Joshi’s father Kanu Joshi was a sub-inspector.
Police have arrested the accused after booking them under sections 120 (B), dealing with conspiracy, and 302, dealing with murder of
