Rajkot city logs warm 34.3°C, Surat hottest
Ahmedabad/Rajkot: Nights continued to remain warm across Gujarat with cities and towns recorded temperatures that were significantly higher than normal during this time of the year.The departure from normal in minimum temperatures was particularly striking in south Gujarat, with Surat logging a minimum of 22.8°C, which was 6.9°C above normal — the highest in the state.
Several cities recorded minimum temperatures close to or above 20°C, suggesting winter's weakening grip, according to the IMD data for 24 hours ending 8:30am Thursday, Ahmedabad recorded 18.6°C (+5.4°C), Vadodara 19.4°C (+5.2°C), Diu 18.7°C (+6.1°C), Bhavnagar 20.2°C (+4.9°C), Rajkot 18.5°C (+4.5°C), Gandhinagar 17.8°C (+4.5°C), Veraval 20.5°C (+4.4°C), Deesa 15.2°C (+4.2°C), and Bhuj 16.8°C (+4.0°C). Even Naliya, which mostly records coldest nights, reported 13.8°C, still 2.5°C above normal.Maximum temperatures also climbed beyond the 30°C mark at many locations. Surat remained the hottest with a maximum of 35.5°C (+4.7°C), followed by Rajkot 34.3°C (+4.2°C), Daman 32.8°C, Bhuj 32.4°C (+2.9°C), Porbandar 32.4°C (+2.4°C), Amreli 32.3°C (+1.5°C), Naliya 32.0°C (+2.8°C), Baroda 31.8°C (+0.8°C), Deesa 31.4°C (+2.5°C), Diu 31.0°C (+1.8°C), Dwarka 30.5°C (+3.6°C), and Ahmedabad and Veraval 30.2°C each. Gandhinagar recorded 29.8°C, while Bhavnagar stayed slightly cooler at 29.4°C.
