Girl's accidental death turns out to be a murder

Rajkot: Death of an eight-year-old girl in Ronki village on April 19, which was said to be due to head injury caused by falling off a tree, has turned out be a murder.

A man has been booked for attempt to rape and murder of the girl and has been detained by the Gandhingram police for questioning.

The deceased Nandini Bavaliya was brought dead to the civil hospital on April 19. The accused, Suresh Makwana (21), who had brought the girl to hospital had then said that she sustained fatal injury in the head after falling off a tree near her house in Ronki village on the outskirts of the city. Makwana works at the farm owned by Nandini's father.

However, police inspector K K Jadeja, investigating the case, got suspicious of Makwana's version. During interrogation, Makwana confessed that he had hit the girl with a wooden bat on the head causing her death.

"On April 19, when Nandini was alone at home, Makwana tried to molest her. And when she shouted for help, Makwana, allegedly hit her with a wooden bat killing her on the spot," said Jadeja. Makwana has been booked for murder and is under detention. He is under detention and will be arrested soon, added Jadeja.
