Rajkot: B Division police here registered an FIR against a couple on Friday, for allegedly orchestrating a massive investment fraud and cheating a family and their associates of Rs 6.18 crore.
The accused, Divyesh and Nilam Savaliya, residents of Nana Mava Main Road, were the directors of a company called Kamya Textiles.
The case came to light after Jalpa Raiyani, 48, who runs a plastic granules company lodged a formal complaint alleging that the multi-crore fraud had been perpetrated over three years, between Jan 1, 2023, and Dec 31, 2025.
The Savaliyas were friends of was Jalpa’s husband, and approached him saying their textile company needed financial backing. They coaxed the family into investing by promising them returns of two or three times their investment while offering shares in Kamya Textiles. According to the complaint, Jalpa’s husband invested Rs 4 crore, her relative Rajesh invested Rs 1.43 crore, her family friend Kalpesh invested Rs 30 lakh and she herself invested Rs 45 lakh.

When pressed by the victims to return the principal investments or the promised returns, the couple allegedly flat-out refused, leading the investors to realize that they had been cheated.
