16 elected for nat’l games

Rajkot: A total of 16 players from Gujarat have been selected for the 67th National School Games being organized by the School Games Federation of India. The tournament will commence on Saturday at Patliputra Cricket Ground in Patna. The Sports Authority of Gujarat initiated the tournament selection process eight months ago. A total of 45 players were selected for cricket and all were taken to Sir Duleep Cricket School for training and final selection. Coaches Sandeep Chauhan and Mahipalsinh Jethwa selected 16 players to represent the state. Man accidentally hit by knife diesRajkot: A 26-year-old man died after being accidentally stabbed by his friend who was fighting with another person in Kotda Sangani village near Rajkot. The victim, Kisan Patani’s friend Naresh Olakiya fought with a man named Khoda Kochar over some issue. Both brandished knives and tried to attack each other. Patani tried to intervene and placate them. However, in the milieu, he got injured by Olakiya’s knife. He was taken to a nearby hospital but died during treatment on Friday. The police booked Olakiya for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
