15-year-old girl dies of suspected cardiac arrest in resort

Rajkot: A 15-year-old girl from Jamnagar died after suddenly collapsing while visiting a resort with her family in Rajkot on Sunday night.

While it is believed to be a heart attack, the exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed and will depend on the findings of the post-mortem examination.

According to police, the girl came to visit her maternal uncle in Rajkot. On the night of June 7, she accompanied her family to a resort on Jamnagar Road for dinner. Family members said she was playing with her cousins and other children at the resort when she suddenly fell unconscious. She was rushed to the civil hospital for treatment. However, after examination, the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

Following the incident, the Rajkot City Civil Police Post informed the Gandhigram police, which lodged an accidental death case.

Speaking to the media, the deceased's uncle, Gopal Katariya, said that she had no known history of heart-related illness.

The girl recently completed Class 9 and was preparing to enter Class 10. She was the youngest among three siblings, with one brother and one sister. Her father, Rajesh Modi, operates a studio business in Jamnagar.
