Woman cheated to the tune of Rs 2.50 crore

RAJAHMUNDRY: A man cheated a woman of Rs 2.50 crore on the pretext of saving her from the leakage of her nude photos and videos.

He has siphoned huge amounts from her after obtaining the trust of the woman and her family from 2021 to 2025. Nidadavole police arrested the offender and he was remanded. The police have seized properties and cash worth Rs 1.81 crore from the accused.

According to Nidadavole Inspector P.V.G Tilak, one Neenawath Devanayak hails from the Lambada community and is a native of Obulu Naidu Palem in Guntur district. He went to Hyderabad to do real estate business in the year 2021.

The victim woman is a native of Nidadavole in East Godavari district and is working in a private company in Hyderabad and used to stay in working women’s hostel in Hyderabad. Incidentally, the wife of the accused also used to stay in the same hostel. The victim and the wife of the accused became good friends and the wife of the accused introduced the victim to her husband. The accused noticed that the victim was financially sound and hatched a plan to cheat.

The accused made someone call the victim on the phone and tell her that he was having her nude photos and videos. Gripped by the panic, the victim told the same to the accused. Promising to her that he would get her out of the problem, the accused told her that the caller has demanded Rs Five lakh to return photos and videos. The victim gave the money to the accused who convinced her that he destroyed the memory card after paying the money.

With this, the victim started to trust the accused blindly who started to siphon money from the victim and her family. He took Rs 50 lakh towards his medical expenses for a severe head injury during the attack of the people who threatened her with nude photos and videos.

When the victim’s financial condition started to decline, he advised her to start a boy’s hostel in Guntur and she set up a boy’s hostel by taking a loan to the tune of Rs 50 lakh. Later, he took Rs 50 lakh from her on the pretext of providing her with a job in Canada. Like this, he siphoned rs 2.50 crore from the victim and her family. Recently, he demanded another Rs 16 lakh from the victim's family who filed a complain with the Nidadavole police who arrested the accused in China Kakani in Guntur.
