RAIPUR: Six days after the most successful operation by security forces in Chhattisgarh in which 29 Maoists were killed in Kanker district, Union home minister Amit Shah warned Naxals to "give up arms or face severe consequences for spreading violence".

"There can be no roads, education, electricity, ration shops, gas cylinders, employment, healthcare or homes until Naxalism is eradicated in Bastar. I ask the remaining Naxalites to surrender, and we will rehabilitate you. Or else, the result of this fight has been decided -- you will be eliminated," Shah said at a poll rally in Kanker city, around 140km from the encounter site. He promised that Naxalism will be eliminated in Chhattisgarh within two years if Maoists do not surrender.

Referring to PM's speech in Banswara, Shah said, "Congress got offended when the PM spoke about its manifesto and asked why it wanted to conduct a survey of properties of all citizens. I want to ask Congress - does your manifesto mention a survey or not? Rahul Gandhi should clarify. Their PM Manmohan Singh had said that minorities have the first right over the resources, not adivasis and dalits. But we say the poor, adivasi, dalit and backwards have the first right to resources of the country."

Shah said BJP has done a lot of work to develop Chhattisgarh and asked Baghel what work Congress did for the state during the UPA regime at the Centre. "Manmohan Singh govt gave Rs 77,000 crore for the state's development, which Modi ji multiplied to Rs 3.2 lakh crore in 10 years."
