SAIL has the possession of the largest block - Deposit-F (Anjrel) which contains an estimated 476.45 MT iron ore and is expected to supply ore to its major steel production unit - Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) for the next 20 years. In this sequence, the first consignment reached BSP from the Anjrel mines of the Rowghat by rail.

Efforts were being made for a long time to supply iron ore from the Rowghat mine area to the steel plant. The BSP started iron ore exploration work from December 2021 in the Anjrel area. A railway line is being laid to bring this iron ore to Bhilai.

The first rake of iron ore excavated from Anjrel was brought to BSP from Antagarh as part of the technical trial, according to BSP director-in-charge Anirban Dasgupta who welcomed the rake and described the event as a matter of pride. Tapan Sutradhar, ED (Mines) congratulated those who made the project possible.

The BSP will explore three lakh tonnes of iron ore per annum in the Rowghat area. Iron ore obtained from Anjrel has iron (Fe) content up to 62 per cent. This ore is expected to reduce the cost of steel production of BSP and contribute to the development of the country.

The Rowghat project located in the forest area of Bastar has been a challenge for the state and union government along with SAIL-Bhilai. In the year 2020, with the cooperation of the state government, intensive efforts were made to start the mine in the Anjrel area of Rowghat. Rowghat.
