by a neighbour who used to often play with her. He was a frequent visitor to her house.According to information, the 21-year-old accused was a habitual drunkard and friendly with the girl's family. He would also take her out to get eatables while her father went to work and mother was busy running household chores.Last Friday, he asked the family to take her out and instead took her to the fields and raped her. Later, he dropped her back. When the girl complained of pain in her abdomen and private parts, the mother gave her medicines. However, as the pain persisted, her mother inquired and the girl narrated the incident. When the accused visited their house the next day, the girl's mother beat him and dragged him to the police station where an FIR was lodged. A statement of the victim and her mother was recorded. The accused, who is a college student, was arrested under Pocso Act. TNN
