Nava Raipur gears up to host Congress’ plenary session

Raipur: Top Congress leaders from across the nation will meet in Chhattisgarh’s greenfield state capital city of Nava Raipur at the three-day 85th plenary session of Indian National Congres. The plenary session will be held from February 24 to 26 at at the Rajyotsav ground near Tuta in Nava Raipur.Massive arrangments are being made at the to the hold the highest deliberative assembly of the Congress where where around 1000 delegates will sit and deliberate on six key subjects releated to political, economic and international affairsOn Sunday, AICC general secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal, Congress treasurer Pawan Bansal and senior leader Tariq Anwar reached the state capital to take stock of the preparations for the mega event. Meanwhile, AICC general secretary in charge of Chhattisgarh affairs, Selja Kumari, already had a preliminary round of discussion with party leaders on Saturday.Top party leaders will participate in the mega conclave where all Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) delegates would ratify the presidentship of Mallikarjun Kharge. State Congress President Mohan Markam, who is the chairman of the reception committee, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, the co-chairman, and other party leaders accompanied the central leaders to the plenary session venue to review the preparations. They also held a meeting with states top party leaders about the arrangements for smoothly organising the event. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has constituted an organising committee and a steering committee for the 85th plenary session. Besides chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot and his Himachal Pradesh counterpart Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu have also been included in the steering committee while all ministers of the Congress, including health minister T S Singhdeo, Home Minister Tamradwaj Sahu, have been included in the 112-member reception committee.
