RAIPUR: The Chhattisgarh unit of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), functioning under the Union ministry of youth affairs and sports, is organizing Clean India-Swachh Bharat Abhiyan from October 2 to October 31 at various places under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
NYKS west zone regional director Dr Bhuvnesh Jain said that the objective of the Clean India campaign is to curtail the use of single plastic in the country through people's movement.
He added that the way nature provides us with pure air, similarly, showing our responsibility towards nature, we should take a pledge to make the environment pure and plastic free.
NYKS Chhattisgarh state director Shrikant Pandey appreciated the spirit of all the youngsters who participated in the Clean India campaign. He said that youths are the leaders of any mass movement and will act as a catalyst to ensure the success of the movement. He informed that a cleanliness drive is being organised in all the districts having NYKS units in Chhattisgarh.
He made an appeal to all the people of Chhattisgarh to take part in this campaign and support in making the cities clean, healthy and sustainable. NYKS Raipur district youth officer Arpit Tiwari said that this programme is being organised both at the district as well as village level. A target has been set for each district to collect and dispose of 11,500 kg of solid and plastic waste in various places in the district. District administration and NSS are also contributing to this programme. This programme will be run throughout the month of October at various popular places in the city and will continue to motivate youth and people to ensure cleanliness in their neighborhood.
