RAIPUR: The government railway police (GRP), Durg, on Monday arrested a man involved in fraud, impersonating as a soldier in the Indian Army.


The GRP seized multiple ID cards made in several states, PAN card, driving licence, photo, fake titles, batch, name plate of Indian Army etc. from the possession of the accused.

The passenger named Hanumant Singh as per chart of Train no 22827 prepared on September 7, 2022 and seat no B2 12 booked in his name in his earlier trip had duped M K Dewangan, deputy CTI, Durg. The accused had posed himself as a military personnel before the CTI during the journey and reportedly promised him to help him buy goods on concession rates from the military canteen.


Coincidentally, Dewangan came across the fraud for the second time when the latter was about to depart for Surat from Durg. Dewangan noticed his activities at platform No. 3 for some time and sought the help of A K Sharma, CTI, Line Incharge, Durg to call the GRP. They urged the GRP to check the belongings of the fraud who had been switching his identity details frequently. On searching him, GRP found eight SIM cards and multiple ID Cards with different names. A FIR has been filed with GRP, Durg under Section 420 of the IPC. The GRP was carrying out further investigation.
