CG goes for 2 board exams; best score will go into marksheet
Raipur: Chhattisgarh will now offer board examinees an option of ‘best of two’ in high school and higher secondary school exams. The second exam will be optional, and students can go for it if they have failed or want to improve their marks.It may take effect from this academic calendar, with the already scheduled board examinations of Class X and XII in March being the first, said official sources. If implementation is not feasible in the ongoing session, it will certainly be enforced from the 2024-25 academic calendar, said an official, adding that this order has been issued in compliance with the National Education Policy.Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) will conduct the first board examination in March and a second one in June-July, according to an order issued by the school education department late Monday evening.Officials said that CGBSE will base a student’s marksheet on the basis of the better of the two exams.As per the regulations, students who are enrolled for the first board examination in March will be eligible to enrol/appear for the second exam. However, students will not be permitted to change their subjects for the second examination.After completing the first examination, students must reapply for the second examination. Those who get into supplementary, fail in all subjects, or wish to improve their grades may appear for the second examination, said an official. Students can choose multiple subjects.Even students who enrolled for the first examination but were unable to appear due to any reason can take the second one. The rules for chance examinations remain unchanged. The higher score will be taken into account for the marksheet, said an official.
