BJP, RSS want to change, destroy Constitution: Rahul Gandhi
RAIPUR: "This election isn't ordinary, it's a fight between ideologies as the BJP and RSS want to change the Constitution of India which gives rights to the poor and protects their present and future. This time people are aware that one side BJP is trying to destroy the Constitution and Congress is trying to save it," said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at an election rally in Bilaspur on Monday.
Addressing people in Sakri village, Gandhi said that this election is about saving the democracy, reservation, Constitution and rights of poor, backward people, Dalits, tribals and minorities.
"Not just Prime Minister Narendra Modi but no power in the whole world can tear the Constitution of our country, which the BJP and RSS are trying to do. This book of Constitution isn't merely a book, but it protects the rights of the poor, and becomes the voice of theirs," Gandhi said.
He added showing the copy of the Constitution that the BJP leaders have been saying they will end the Constitution and reservation once they come to power. "The ideology of BJP doesn't match that of Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Nehru and Babasaheb Ambedkar and rather they support only a few selected people of their choice like 'Ambani-Adani'. People have now understood if the reservation is taken away, their jal-jungle-jameen will be taken away too and they will have to shift to unknown places. They have realized that the democracy, Constitution, PSUs and reservation are under attack," Gandhi said, questioning why suddenly the Prime Minister who was earlier saying 'abki baar 400 paar' is not saying it anymore?
Gandhi pointed out the schemes announced in the Congress manifesto on vocational training rights for unemployed youths, Mahalaxmi Yojana for women and loan waiver for farmers across the country.
Rahul slams BJP over 'privatisation of PSUs'
They are up for converting PSUs into private companies and once a PSU gets privatized, they end reservation to an extent as the tribals and Dalits are not given jobs in private sectors. I can challenge not a single BJP leader to say that they will not privatize the PSUs or waive off loans of all farmers or end the contract trend. Now the question arises that only 22 people have been given Rs 16 lakh crore means the amount of MNREGA of 25 years has been given to 22 people and now they have wealth equivalent to what 70 crore people of the country have," he said. Gandhi was campaigning for Congress candidate and MLA Devendra Singh Yadav. Bilaspur seat goes for polls in third phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 7.
