Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan stated that the surrendered Maoists were involved in the 2021 Tekulguda ambush, which claimed the lives of 22 security personnel. One of the cadres was part of the security team of the dreaded Maoist commander, Madvi Hidma.

Among those who surrendered, three cadres carried a cash reward of ?8 lakh each, while four had a ?2 lakh bounty on their heads, police said.

The surrendered cadres cited their decision as being influenced by the Chhattisgarh Naxalism Eradication and Rehabilitation Policy and the ‘Niyad Nella Nar’ scheme.

All the surrendered Maoists received incentive amounts and will benefit from the government’s rehabilitation policy.

According to police officials, special efforts were made by the Intelligence Branch team, Dornapal Police Station, and CRPF Battalions 131 and 241 to encourage the Maoists to surrender.

The SP stated that the growing influence of the police, coupled with frustration over the Naxalite organization’s inhumane ideology, exploitation, atrocities, and discrimination by external Maoistleaders against local tribals, prompted their surrender.

The surrendered couple, Ravva Muke and Hemla Hidma, met and married while being active in the Maoistorganization.
