21_Rai_RAM_Panchayat plot repeats: Pigeon’s flop flight at I-Day event turns into social media storm
Raipur: In a curious twist during the Independence Day celebration in Mungeli district in Chhattisgarh, a well-intended gesture of peace and freedom turned into a social media delight. The event, which saw a police officer releasing a pigeon into the air, took an unexpected turn when the bird, instead of taking flight, flopped on the ground. It's not clear if the pigeon was alive or healthy. The video of it set off a storm of reactions online. The incident quickly drew a rerun of a scene from the third season of the popular web series 'Panchayat,' where a similar mishap left viewers amused and empathetic. In the real-life version, the pigeon was released by Mungeli superintendent of police, Girija Shankar Jaiswal, during the district-level Independence Day function. The event had a star-studded lineup, including BJP MLA and former minister Punnulal Mohle, who was the chief guest, and Mungeli collector Rahul Deo. Interestingly, while the birds released by the MLA and the collector soared gracefully high in the sky, the SP's pigeon didn't quite get the memo.On Tuesday, the SP had written to the district collector, requesting disciplinary action against those responsible for the pigeon mishap. In his letter, the SP expressed concern that the incident had marred a significant national celebration and was now being widely discussed on social media. He noted that the pigeon appeared to be unwell and that the situation could have been far more embarrassing had it occurred with the chief guest or the MLA.The viral video, shared by social media user Sachin Gupta on his 'X' handle, was captioned with a cheeky nod to the web series: "Panchayat-3 was repeated in Chhattisgarh. SP sahab released pigeons on Independence Day. His pigeon fell instead of flying. Watch the video."As the clip spread like wildfire across platforms, it also attracted the attention of the authorities.
