RAIPUR: Two brothers were killed after being beaten and run over with a tractor by their relatives in a dispute over ancestral property in Chhattisgarh's Mungeli district, police reported on Tuesday. The incident occurred on Sunday on the road between Gigtara and Chhatan villages. Additionally, a man and a woman sustained injuries in the attack.
The conflict involved Toran Patle of Budhwara village and his seven sons, who were divided into two opposing groups over the division of their ancestral property. On Sunday, Patle and three of his sons—Keju Ram, Makhan, and Rambali—allegedly attacked Bhagbali, Kaushal, Wakil, and Wakil's wife Santoshi with sticks near their field.
SP Girija Shankar Jaiswal reported to PTI that Keju Ram ran over his brothers Bhagbali (55) and Wakil (45) with a tractor. Bhagbali was killed instantly, and Wakil later died in the hospital. Kaushal (58) and Santoshi (40) are receiving medical treatment.
A case has been filed against nine individuals. Five of the accused, including Keju Ram, his wife Chitralekha, and others, have been arrested. Efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining four suspects who are still at large.
