Three held on charge of murder attempt

Pune: The Pimpri police on Monday arrested three eatery workers in Pimpri on the charge of attempting to kill a customer following arguments over serving food earlier in the day.A resident (30) of Ajmera Colony in Pimpri has lodged a complaint with the Pimpri police.The arrested suspects were identified as Abbas Shaikh (30) and Mohammed Shaikh (21), both from Nadia district in West Bengal and Pankaj Bhumkar (30) of Narhe, under sections 109 (murder attempt) and 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the BNS.An officer from the Pimpri police said that on Monday, around 2am, the complainant and his friend went to the eatery and ordered some food. "One of the waiters told him that the eatery was closed and they would not get food. The complainant claimed in his complaint that the waiter spoke to him rudely," the officer said.He said that when the complainant told him to speak properly, the waiter started arguing with him. Two others from the kitchen also joined him. They were carrying spatulas in their hands. They assaulted the complainant and his friend with spatulas. When the complainant and his friend came out of the eatery, the accused followed them. "They threatened the people who had gathered outside the eatery after hearing the commotion. The trio threatened the people with the spatulas," the officer said.He said the trio fled from the spot after the incident. "We traced them and took them into custody. Our investigations are on," he said.
