PUNE: In order to support the many underprivileged persons and frontline workers fighting the Cocid-19 crises, the Kharadi Residents' Association (Kshitij) has been distributing essentials among those in need. The association has identified and distributed rations to needy daily wage labourers in the presence of staff from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

According to member of the association, Mehzabin Saiyed, the association distributed kits to 60 families recently. "These ration kits will last a family of four for an entire month. Apart from ration kits, we have distributed 200 sanitisation kits comprising 200 face shields, 200 masks, 800 pairs of gloves and 10 litre bottle of sanitiser among PM staff members. These members will be conducting the door to door survey and checks in residential areas," Saiyed explained.

Chairman of the association, Nitin Memane said, "We are coordinating with the police and the civic staff for assistance. The arrangement is being made to help the police in supplying food to the migrant labourers. We plan to continue distribution of ration and sanitisation kits until the lockdown ends."
