One held for duping tax expert of Rs 15L

PUNE: Chikhali police arrested a 26-year-old man recently from Gujarat and recovered Rs 15.47 lakh from him, which he extracted from a 65-year-old tax consultant between February and March last year.

The victim lodged a complaint with the Chikhali police on May 20 last year where he said that in February 2023, he received a call from an unknown person, who promised him good returns on his investment in the share market.

Senior inspector Dnyaneshwar Katkar of the Chikhali police said that the accused took Rs 15.47 lakh on different occassions from the victim and the latter became suspicious when the suspect again demanded Rs 3.47 lakh.

Investigations of the bank account and cellphones and confirmed the involvement of one Dinesh Thakore from Mehsana district in Gujarat.
