The fire brigade evacuated some residents from the affected region following heavy rainfall in the past two weeks, which led to the discharge of 35,000 cusecs of water from the dam.

"Pune DM has requested for 01 Column of Indian Army for Ekta Nagar be prepositioned at Ekta Nagar as excess water being released from Khadwasla Dam. Army Column is moving out," a defense press update stated.

The water release from Khadakwasla dam resulted in water accumulation at the Dwarka Society located on Sinhgad Road in the Ekta Nagar area. This situation prompted the authorities to call in the Army to assist with relief efforts.

In addition to the deployment of Army personnel, the fire brigade took action to ensure the safety of residents. Some members of the society in Ekta Nagar were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
