Puducherry CM announces Diwali freebies

PUDUCHERRY: Chief minister N Rangasamy on Saturday announced Diwali freebies for the residents of the Union territory of Puducherry.

Instead of rice and sugar, the government will transfer Rs 490 to the heads of the families of all ration cardholders, Rs 1,000 per head of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe families and family members of workers of unorganised sector and Rs 4,000 per head for construction workers.

The government extended 8.33% bonus of the wages to all government servants and employees of all corporations and cooperative sectors running in profit.

All the freebies will be directly credited to the beneficiary bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

The chief minister gifted crackers and sweet boxes to all MLAs and their well-wishers.
