VIP candidate booked for violation of election code

MOTIHARI: Two separate cases were registered against Rajesh Kushwaha, the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) candidate from Purvi Champaran Lok Sabha seat on Sunday, for violating the model code of conduct as he took out a car rally without seeking permission from magistrate-cum-assistant returning officers on Saturday.

Kushwaha, after getting ticket from VIP Patna office, reached Motihari by road with several cars of his supporters. All the vehicles were fitted with party flags and his carcade was welcomed by his supporters at Mehasi and Areraj.

The circle officers of Mehasi and Areraj, Uday Pratap Singh and Nandita Kumari, respectively, lodged separate cases against him as he took out the car rally without getting required permission. However, Rajesh Kushwaha has not filed his nomination for the LS polls as the election of this constituency would be held on May 25 in sixth phase.
