KC Tyagi new secretary general of JD(U)
PATNA: Senior JD(U) member K C Tyagi was on Thursday named party secretary general, while diplomat-turned-politician Pawan Kumar Varma and journalist-turned-politician Harivansh were made general secretaries in the new team of Nitish Kumar.
The list of office-bearers, which was released on Thursday, has one secretary general, eight general secretaries, six secretaries and a treasurer.
Nitish had taken over the reins of the party from Sharad Yadav in April, but his election as party president was ratified at JD(U) national council meeting at Rajgir last month.
The list of general secretaries include Nitish's trusted man and Rajya Sabha MP R C P Singh. Another old hat, Ravindra Prasad Singh, has been named national secretary. The new JD(U) team saw inclusion of three members - Pawan Kumar Varma, Harivansh and Verghese George of Kerala. The other general secretaries are Arun Kumar Srivastava, Javed Raza, Shyam Rajak and Ghulam Rasool Baliyavi.
Apart from Ravindra, Ramsewak Singh, Vidya Sagar Nishad, Virendra Singh Vidhuri, Afaque Ahmad Khan and M B Shreyans Kumar would be the other national secretaries of the party.
